Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s recent comments about people with autism continue to experience the play of members of the autistic community, including the stars of the Hit Netflix reality series ‘Love on the Spectrum’.
In a tap video, James B. Jones, who appeared in all three seasons of the show, mentioned Kennedy’s comments about those who have the neurological disorder “are extremely ignorant and perfectly frank, downright offensive.”
What did Kennedy say?
During a press conference last week, Kennedy called Autism a “disease to be prevented” and promised to identify “environmental causes” responsible for the condition.
Kennedy’s comments were in response to a new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that discovered that approximately 3.2% of 8-year-olds had been diagnosed with autism from 2022, compared to 2.8% in 2020. Researchers admitted the increase, at least partially, in autism-script.
The health secretary has also made major claims about children with autism and their families.
“Autism destroys families, and more importantly, it destroys our greatest resource, what our children are. These are children who should not suffer that way,” said Kennedy. “These are children who will never pay taxes. They will never hold a job. They will never play baseball. They will never write a poem. They will never go on a date. Many of them will never use a toilet without help.”
What do people say in the show?
Netflix’s “Love on the Spectrum”, who debuted in 2022, people follow people on the autism spectrum while navigating through the dating world.
“I am old enough, I am enough age that I can remember for a while in which society did not have a very thorough understanding of autism or similar forms of neurodiversity,” Jones, 37, said on Tiktok. “So I am very dissatisfied, very discouraged to hear someone making that nature.”
Jones, who works in it, told People Magazine that he is living proof of Kennedy’s ignorance about autism.
“I am now a 37-year-old adult adult. I have been driving. I have had my driver’s license since I was 17. “Apart from the fact that I still live with my parents, I believe that I am doing very well.”
Shelley Wolfe, the girlfriend of Jones, who also appears in the show, responded in the same way in his own Tiktok video.
“I am autistic and my life is not a tragedy,” said Wolfe.
She explained that she was moving to Japan to study at a university grant and lived there for seven years.
“I only cooked. I only did my taxes,” said Wolfe, who now works as a senior advertising manager.
“Autism has certainly made my life more difficult, but it’s something that [we] Should not be told that we must prevent. It is something that we have to accept and understand in society, “she said, adding,” autistic people are not broken, they just think differently. “

Dani Bowman, another “Love on the Spectrum” star, told Nieuwsnation that she was “disgusting” because of Kennedy’s comments.
“Autistic people have the same hope, dreams and yes, the same uncomfortable dating moments as someone else,” Bowman told NewsNation. “To generalize and say that none of us can work, date or contribute to society, is completely incorrect. I have a job. I pay taxes. I went out. I have a master’s degree.
“Wanting to heal autism implies that our way is wrong, and it is not. We don’t have to be solved. We must be supported,” she added. “But the answer did not know, it builds a more inclusive world for all of us.”
