It is no secret that Barcelona wants to sign a new winger this summer, and this is made clear by sports director Deco – he is the man who is responsible for the process that seems to claim well at this stage.
Deco opens the signing process of Nico Williams
In recent weeks, Barcelona has converted their top objective for the position. Luis Diaz had been the desired, but it is now Nico Williams. And about this, Deco gave insight into what he did, and what he still has to do while he is being interviewed by La Vanguardia (via MD).
“Both Nico and other players have shown the desire to come. If Nico’s circumstances arise, we will try.
“To sign a player, you have to follow the right steps. First you talk to his agent, then you talk about contractual situations and then you see whether his club needs the clause or is open to negotiation. We met his agent to find out what the player wants and from there they are.”

Williams had rejected Barcelona, but he is now reportedly desperate to participate. Personal conditions have already been agreed, which makes his arrival all the more likely – especially in view of the fact that the club can afford to activate its release clause.
Deco gives reasoning behind Barcelona desire to sign a winger
Deco revealed why Barcelona wants to sign a new winger, while he also rejected all the suggestions that Williams is being signed because of the relationships he has with other squadelles.
“We have to strengthen that position. As Wingers, we only have Lamine and Raphinha, because Ferran is becoming more and more a striker. If we don’t have Lamine or Raphinha, the level of the team drops. The names to strengthen this position are based on price and quality.
“The fact that Nico and Lamine are friends is good. But this is not a club of friends. We come here to work and try to win. If they can get along well, the better.”
